Blog Post #1

If you built a school, what would it be like?
If I could create a school, the main focus of this school would be the students. I would want my school to cater to the needs of the students. I would love to have the newest technology, the community to explore, and teachers who truly have a passion for teaching. My school would be completely paperless and the students would know how navigate on computers, tablets, smartphones, etc.. The entire school would be wifi accessible.

My class
In my classroom there would be vivid colors, small nooks, many different learning areas/centers, tables (to encourage collaboration), and students' work hanging everywhere. I would teach 3rd-5th grades. At each student's area there would be tablets or computers built into the table so that they can still see others at the table but have personal access to a computer. I would have a student centered teaching style. I would allow the students to use their computers to find answers to questions asked in class, I will never give the answer to students.
What do you want your students to know and be able to do?
The main emphasis on what the students should know will be the ability to find the answer to their questions and explore other alternatives. They will know how to be a successful and active citizen. Students will be given the tools to learn how to be an individual and to think on their own.
What will be your primary way of teaching your students what you want them to know and to do? What role will students play in your classroom
The primary method that will be used will be student-centered exploration. The students will be allowed to explore to fine the answers or to lead their learning experience. The students will be allowed to use their resources and technology to find a solution to their posed questions.
